Uke Studio: C Major Scale Intervals

Posted on: January 7th, 2010 by dville

This is the first of a series of ear training videos designed to improve interval recognition. Get the fingerings down and practice playing and listening to these intervals every day. Singing the solfege syllables while playing the intervals will help even more.

Hi Jim,Nice tutorial! Don't play uke myself, but so much of ear training is relevant across instruments. I really like your observation that the descending intervals of the major scale sound minor. It's the kind of unintuitive thing that's really handy to have pointed out to you! Another one that always seems odd to me is how major sevenths can sound minor and vice-versa, due to their relationships with the major and minor second.Looking forward to the rest of the series!
