From The Mailbag: Workshop Tour Update

Posted on: October 12th, 2011 by dville
I’m halfway through my east coast swing of the Play Ukulele By Ear Workshop Touand already have collected a bushel-barrel of new new friends and magical musical moments.
Between the workshops I’ve been to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, Camden Yards Ballpark (home of the Baltimore Orioles), Civil War Battlefields in Richmond and the battlefield at Yorktown.
But it’s the comments I hear from people after the workshop that are my real reason for going out on the road.  Here are just a few of the comments I received so far:

“The workshop was amazing.  I am a lifelong amateur musician with a degree in music history.  Jim’s framing of playing the uke was brilliant.”

Ground-dwelling mammal encountered at Yorktown battlefield.

“This event was fantastic!  It was a lot of fun and very, very instructive. I don’t think I can quite estimate yet how much I learned since I am still processing everything. Jim D’Ville has great presence and really knows his way around the ukulele.  It was a fun and lively afternoon.  Just great!”

“This was an awesome workshop.  Jim has a very different way of teaching, and for us old timers that can’t memorize anymore, it was a new way of thinking about how to learn.  Thanks for having the inspiration and tenacity to get Jim to the Northern Virginia Ukulele Ensemble.”

Who wouldn’t want to go out on the road and meet folks that say nice things like that about you! Thanks all!
