This week’s guest on the Weekly Interval is the ascending Perfect 5th. The Perfect 5th is a dynamic interval, full of power and glory! Think English hunting horns or Roman legions. I like to think of it as the first stop in the second half of the major scale. Play the interval. Listen to it. Remember to spend a week with this interval, play it in different keys, and listen for the melodies of familiar songs to jump out as you practice listening to the Perfect 5th. If you do hear the melody to a song that starts with this interval other than those listed below post it in the comments section.
Solfege Syllables: Do-Sol (pronounced Doe-Sole)
3rd string open to 2nd string, 3rd fret (or open 4th string)
