This week on the Weekly Interval we’ll practice the twelve ascending intervals in order. We’ll start on the root of the C Major Scale and ascend the scale while singing the Chromatic Solfege Syllables. Remember to start each two-note group with the root tone C. Notice the friendly and even sounding Major Scale Intervals as opposed to the Blue Note sound of the Chromatic Intervals.
Key of C Major Ascending Chromatic Interval Exercise:
 Do-Di (#1/b2)
 Do-Re Major Scale Interval
 Do-Ri (#2/b3)
 Do-Mi Major Scale Interval
 Do-Fa Major Scale Interval
 Do-Fi (#4/b5)
 Do-Sol Major Scale Interval
 Do-Si (#5/b6)
 Do-La Major Scale Interval
 Do-Li (#6/b7)
 Do-Ti Major Scale Interval
 Do-Do Major Scale Interval
OK. Did this one. Eventually understood the symbols–I’m going up a half tone to the sharps or down a half tone to the flats, right? i.e. I’m playing the 2nd interval #, or the 3rd interval b? Now I’ll name the notes as I play. Is that a good idea? Or should I just be singing the solfage syllables? Libby
