Welcome to the second installment of The Circle 
. As we learned in the first post The Circle of 5ths is a circle with the twelve tones of the Chromatic Scale spaced evenly around the perimeter a fifth interval apart. But did you know that most people are born with two built-in 5th Interval Finders!
I, for one, am not afraid to refer to my 5th Interval Finder anytime I want to immediately know the 5th of the key I want to play in. This is great for two-chord songs since almost all the time if a song only has two chords they are I and the V chord. Choose any key and try it for yourself. Remember, the thumb is always the root, or key you are in.
Observation: The 5th of any Key is the note immediately to the right of the root on the Circle of Fifths. You can find the 5th of any key using your hand, starting with the thumb, and counting up five notes (fingers).
Jim, I am finding these posts so interesting. I started out my musical journey by just wanting to strum and sing along. Now I’ve reached a point where I want to understand and hear.
