New Picking Lesson Download!

Posted on: February 14th, 2015 by dville

Small Picking

My newest video lesson, Picking Ukulele By Ear, is now available as a digital download!  I’m very happy about the way this 55-minute lesson turned out.  It is designed for all levels, but can take you as far as you want to go in this style.  The approach is simple.  We start by introducing the sound of each open string to the muscle memory of your fingers.  From there you’ll learn a number of rolls (Alternating Thumb, Forward, Backward etc.), Pinches, Single-String Style, Slides, Hammers, Pulls and that’s just the first 25 minutes!  In the second half of the lesson I demonstrate five songs in a number of genres (Irish, classical, folk) using the techniques you’ve learned.

I been studying this style of picking for 25 years, first on the 5-string banjo and for the last 15 years on the ukulele.  Every other finger-picking method I’ve seen over the years requires you memorize tab or written music.  My approach does not.  It’s an ear-based approach with no tab and no handouts.  If you’ve ever wanted to pick out melodies on your ukulele Picking Ukulele By Ear is the lesson for you.  This approach is specifically for C tuned instruments with a high G.  The DVD version of the lesson will be available the first week in March.  Click HERE to order the lesson for $20USD and start your new style of playing today!.
